Established in London in 1983, the specialist team at Ancient & Modern Architecture incorporates designers, stone procurement specialists, chartered engineers and master stonemasons. The firm’s reputation was founded on striking, architectural pieces featuring intricate carving and faithful historic interpretations of items such as mantles. The specialist stairways division was established in 2008 and draws on over 70 years of collective experience and expert knowledge.

Alistair has worked in the stone and design industry for over 30 years. Based in New York for 15 years, he heads up the US side of Ancient & Modern Architecture Architectural. Alistair works closely with US architects, interior designers and contractors. His background in architectural antiques and in-depth knowledge of architectural history informs Ancient & Modern Architecture Architectural’s approach to designing with both historical accuracy and modern flair.
As a Chartered Architect, Carlos blueprints and oversees each commission. Carlos, who trained at the prestigious Lusofona University, Lisbon has many years of experience in residential design and management. He joined Ancient & Modern Architecture as Senior Project Architect in 2014.
Senior Structural Engineer, Miguel is responsible for designing and engineering stonework projects. A qualified Civil Engineer and graduate of Nova University in Lisbon, Miguel joined the practice in 2016 and excels in marrying rigorous knowledge with aesthetic artistry.
In 2020, Andrew spearheaded a management buyout of the architectural division of Ancient & Mordern allowing the company to expand and capitalise on its unique proposition. Since 2005, he has specialised in high-end furniture, lighting and accessories following a career in banking and finance in the U.S.A. Andrew is a partner in Ochre and the founder of Canvas Home and he shares a 360 understanding of the architectural and design process. Andrew works between the U.S. and the U.K.
